// How NTM Works

From quote to ship, under one roof.

  1. 01

    Quote & DFM Review

    Engineering drawings, native CAD, material specs, and contract flowdowns intake. Design-for-manufacturability review at the start so issues get caught before tooling.

  2. 02

    Material Procurement

    Materials sourced with Mill Test Reports. Heat lot identification carried from receiving through to finished part. DFARS specialty metals compliance verified when applicable.

  3. 03

    Fabrication In-House

    Routing through NTM's real shop floor: laser / turret / shear cutting → CNC press brake forming → AWS-qualified welding → Haas CNC milling, turning, and drilling.

  4. 04

    Quality Inspection

    In-process and post-fabrication inspection by qualified personnel. CMM dimensional verification on First Article and as required. Material certs and inspection records compiled.

  5. 05

    Assembly, Finish & Ship

    Final assembly, deburring, sandblasting, Timesavers belt graining, hardware install. Packaging, labeling, kitting. Certificate of Conformance compiled before shipment.

// Materials & Standards

What we work with. What we work to.

Materials We Work With
  • Mild SteelMost common base material for chassis, frames, structural components, and general fabrication.
  • High-Strength Steel GradesElevated yield strength for load-bearing and safety-critical applications.
  • T1 SteelHigh-strength low-alloy steel for heavy-duty structural and abrasion-resistant work.
  • Stainless SteelCorrosion-resistant for fluid-handling, sanitary, and exposed-environment applications.
  • AluminumLightweight option for body panels, refuse bodies, and weight-sensitive assemblies.
  • Food-Grade StainlessSanitary applications including food processing and commercial appliance work.
Standards & Certifications
  • ISO 9001:2015 Certified
  • SAM Registered

// When to Call NTM

Is NTM the right shop?

If your program matches any of these, you’re a fit. If it matches more than one, NTM is probably the right call on the first quote.

  • Tier-2 / Tier-3 supplier sourcingBuilding components for a Prime Contractor or upstream OEM, not direct-to-end-user.
  • ITAR-controlled or CUI handling requiredDefense-controlled technical data, drawings, or end-use information must stay U.S.-domestic.
  • AWS-coded structural weldingD1.1 carbon steel, D1.6 stainless, D1.2 aluminum, D1.3 sheet steel, D9.1 / D17.1 specialty work.
  • Prototype through low / mid-volume productionOne-off engineering builds, validation runs, and ongoing program production, not high-volume die-cast / stamping work.
  • Multi-process parts under one roofParts that need to be cut + formed + welded + machined + finished without bouncing between vendors and adding lead time.
// Common Questions

Service Questions, Answered.

Q · 01

What services does New Tech Metals offer?

NTM offers six in-house services under one roof: Design & Development, Cutting, Forming, Welding & Fabrication, Machining, and Assembly & Finishing. The full chain from raw stock to finished, packaged assembly runs through the New Franken, Wisconsin facility.

Q · 02

Does NTM do prototype work or only production runs?

Both. NTM handles prototype, low-volume, and mid-volume production. The Design & Development service includes Design-for-Manufacturability review and prototyping, then the same shop scales the part into validation runs and ongoing program production.

Q · 03

What materials does NTM run?

Mild steel, high-strength steel grades, T1 steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and food-grade stainless. Over 50 individual material specs across carbon, stainless, aluminum alloys, copper, brass, and select exotics.

Q · 04

Can NTM handle ITAR-controlled drawings?

Yes. NTM is ITAR compliant and DDTC-registered to receive, store, and fabricate from export-controlled technical data. Mutual NDAs are standard before drawings are released.

Q · 05

What AWS welding codes is NTM certified for?

NTM is certified to nine AWS codes: D1.1 (carbon steel), D1.2 (aluminum), D1.3 (sheet steel), D1.6 (stainless), D8.1 / D8.9 (automotive resistance and spot welding), D9.1 (light-gauge sheet metal), plus the A2.4 weld-symbol and A3.0 terminology standards.
